SRAM Buying Guide

RED and Force lead SRAM's road line, while X01, GX and NX Eagle cover the mountain — with AXS bringing wireless electronic shifting to both. Shop SRAM cassettes, chains and rear derailleurs, or compare with Shimano.

Quick guide: all 12-speed Eagle tiers interchange — an X01 derailleur happily runs a GX cassette; Eagle 10-52T cassettes need an XD driver and road AXS cassettes an XDR driver; AXS components pair through the SRAM AXS app.

SRAM FAQs

XD vs XDR — what's the difference?

Same spline design: XD is the MTB standard, XDR is slightly longer for road hubs. Match the cassette to the driver on your wheel.

Can I mix Eagle tiers?

Yes — X01, GX and NX 12-speed Eagle parts are cross-compatible, so you can upgrade one part at a time.

Which chain do I need?

Road AXS drivetrains use SRAM's Flattop chain; Eagle MTB drivetrains use the Eagle chain — the two are not interchangeable.
